One of my favorite summer desserts to make is this Homemade, No Churn, Cookies n’ Cream Ice Cream. It tastes just like the frosting on a Carvel ice cream cake! Super smooth and creamy, takes minutes to prepare and it always a hit!
A couple months ago I worked on a service project with about 10 girls ages 8-11 from our church. We meet twice a month and I’m in charge of coordinating activities with the goal of them passing off certain lessons in the areas of strengthening families, developing talents, fostering unity and building their testimony of Jesus Christ. This particular time we met we made homemade dog treats for service dogs. Within the hospital system I work for, there is a service dog that works Monday- Friday at each of our 5 hospitals. Many of them are siblings! I spoke to the handler for the service dog, Compass, that I see every day and she thought the idea of homemade dog treats was great and agreed to share the treats with the other dogs. The girls had a great time making the treats. The next time I worked, I placed the tupperware filled with the dog treats in the employee refrigerator and planned on giving them to Compass’s handler later that day. It was to my surprise that a few hours later I was met by some of my fellow employees with big smiles and laughter. They told me they saw the treats in the fridge and thought they were the energy bites I had made before and took it upon themselves to open the container and eat them!! When they didn’t taste quite like they remembered, someone walked in and told them, “THOSE ARE DOG TREATS!”. Bahahahahah!!!! We laughed and laughed till our faces hurt. Other nurses caught wind of their mistake and would bark at them as they walked by. I think they learned their lesson to ask permission to eat someone else’s food before diving in themselves! You think? Lol
You’re going to love the texture and flavor of this ice cream. Whip it up before you go to bed and let it sit overnight or for at least 6 hours before serving. Simply place in a large tupperware container with lid and you’ll have delicious ice cream for days! (if it lasts that long!)
