Sweet and Sticky Ham and Cheese Sliders

October 21, 2014 by Dangerously-Delicious.com

Nothing is better than these ham and cheese sliders!!! Nothing!!! They are sweet, sticky, warm and gooey. Make them for lunch or make them for a gathering. Either way, be sure you bake plenty to share because they will go fast!  Lightening fast!

I know there is a similar concoction out there in the Pinterest world that calls for chopped onion in the recipe. Noooo onion in this recipe people! How about brown sugar instead!! Hey, I never said they were healthy. If it’s ooey and gooey, sweet and sticky, it’s probably not healthy. Right? I decided to try out these babies at my son’s birthday party. I know- you’re not suppose to try a new recipe for the first time when you are feeding company… but these just screamed EAT ME!! I prepared them the  night before, letting them marinate overnight. When it cam time to feed the crowd I just popped them in the oven for 10 minutes and before I knew it they were gone!!! It took minutes for them to be devoured. I have since made them for other gatherings and purposely made a lot more full knowing that they would be inhaled. Even then, they were gone in a blink. My mouth is salivating just thinking about them. Mmmmm

Sweet & Sticky Ham & Cheese Slider

Slice your Hawaiian Sweet Rolls and place the bottoms in a a casserole dish or aluminum pan (with lid if you are marinating) for easy clean up. Place 2 pieces of  thin sliced sweet ham on top. I like to use Boar’s Head Honey Maple Ham.

Sweet & Sticky Ham & Cheese Sliders

Break Swiss cheese into fourths and stack about 3 pieces on top of ham.

Pour your liquid mixture on top of sandwiches. If you are marinating them just cover sandwiches and place in refrigerator until you are ready to bake.

Sweet and Sticky Ham & Cheese Sliders

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and place sliders into oven for 10-12 minutes uncovered. Serve warm. I recommend taking a few for yourself BEFORE you serve them. No promises there will be any left by the time you get to the table. I’m not exaggerating.

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 T mustard
  • 1 T worcestershire sauce

  2. Pile 2 pieces of thinly sliced sweet ham on top. Break Swiss cheese into fourths and place about 3 pieces on top of ham. Top each slider with other half of bun.
  3. On stove top melt butter in sauce pan. Add mustard, worcestershire sauce, brown sugar and poppy seeds. Stir until well blended and bubbly.
  4. Spoon your warm mixture evenly over each slider. Cover and marinate for few hours or overnight.
  5. Bake sandwiches at 350 degrees uncovered for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Notes

If you don't have time to marinate, feel free to stick them right in the oven. They will still be amazing!

Dangerously Delicious

My name is Crystal Dangerfield and I am so excited to bring you tried and true recipes that my whole family and I enjoy together. I love being in the kitchen and trying new recipes. Of course we have our favorites, but my kids are pretty good sports about trying new things. I refuse to buy ready-made frozen meals and refrain from fast food. My kids do not know what a “happy meal” is and I want to keep it that way! My husband was diagnosed with Celiac’s Disease several years ago and I have had to learn how to alter recipes into gluten free versions that the whole family still loves.
