I’ve been enjoying this recipe for peanut butter cookies since I was a child. You’ll never guess where the recipe is from! This cookie is perfectly moist, chewy and full of peanutty flavor. For 3 generations, no other peanut butter cookie has compared to this recipe. Try them for yourself and you’ll see why!
Okay, so want to know where this recipe is from?! My mother’s home economics book from high school! Crazy, right?! She fell in love with this recipe as a teenager and actually STILL has the book today. I can remember as a child opening up that old book and searching for this recipe when my mom and I would make cookies together. The pages are discolored and stiff, the text faded and the binding is weak. I’m pretty sure this recipe is the only one she’s ever used from that book, but she still keeps it today.
I love making this recipe for MY kids now. They absolutely love it! Sometimes I add my own twist to the recipe and roll each ball of dough into sugar before baking. It just gives the cookie a different texture. That step is completely optional though. We also love to stick a little Hershey Kiss in the middle of the cookie as soon as they come out of the oven. That combo of peanut butter and chocolate is irresistible! Either way you choose, the cookie itself is the hero.
