These cupcakes with printable are the perfect gift to give this season, especially to those you love most!
The Tale Of The Three Trees is about 3 trees who have aspirations of becoming something great when they grow big in stature. One day woodcutters come and cut them down, leaving them to become less than what they had aspired to be…so they thought. Their ideas of greatness were good, but with the help of Jesus Christ, they became so much more than they could have ever thought possible. They became legendary. A reminder that we can all achieve good things on our own, but through Jesus Christ, were can achieve greatness!
Reading this story makes me reflect on my own life and the path I thought I once wanted. When my husband and I were newly married, he had just graduated from flight school. He was flying for a charter company flying private jets. As any pilot will tell you, you have to fly (a ton) to get to the big leagues, the airlines. Then 9/11 happened and he was laid off. We had been married for only 2 months. He quickly found another job flying cargo from Florida to the Bahamas, but that only lasted 9 months before he was out of a job again. I was in nursing school and quickly realizing that this education I was getting as a backup plan for later in life, was going to be an immediate necessity.
My husband took a job as a security officer on a private island here in Miami called Fischer Island. It payed very little, leaving us to be on food stamps and living in a government subsidized apartment. During that time, we had serious conversations about changing careers altogether. The airline industry was plummeting. For a new pilot, no jobs were to be had. It was at that time, after many prayers and days fasting, my husband decided to apply for the fire department and start getting certified as a fire fighter. I was NOT happy. I thought he was short-changing himself, settling for something less than he was capable of. He went for it anyway. He graduated top of his class and was hired while he was IN the fire academy! When I tell you this NEVER happens, it NEVER happens… men try for YEARS to get hired by a fire department. YEARS! And he was hired before he even finished getting his certification. I have since seen the tender mercies given to us through this unexpected change. My husband has used that intelligent brain of his to test number one on tests and get promoted quickly. He’s now home more than he ever would have been flying, and, together, we support our family sufficiently. I have had the opportunity to work as an RN in the ER for past 11 years. A job most people cringe at, I love and enjoy. My ability to balance (juggle) a career, 5 children, a home, room mom duties, church callings and 2 small businesses has proven to me that we can become so much more than we ever thought possible if we keep Christ the center of our daily lives. Never did I think I would be married to a fire fighter, be a working mother and have 5 children! The plan was to be married to a pilot, be a stay-at-home mother and not have any added stress! I love that He knows what we are capable of and for that I’ll be eternally grateful.
