Crockpot Sweet and Sour Turkey Meatballs

February 16, 2016 by Dangerously-Delicious.com

If you think you’re not a sweet and sour type of person, this recipe will change your taste buds! These Crockpot Sweet and Sour Meatballs are a lick-your-plate kind of meal.  Smother your turkey meatballs with a perfectly balanced sweet and sour sauce in your crockpot and in less than 5 minutes, dinner prep is done!

Sweet and Sour Meatballs

To be honest, this dish is not a recipe I ever thought I would share on my blog… for 2 reasons. Number 1- I am not a sweet and sour food lover. And 2- I do not buy frozen food, with the exception of ice cream, popsicles or organic fruits and veggies. I have always refused to buy frozen meals. (This is because, growing up, my mother used to call herself the Frozen Food Queen.) Even with 5 kids, a husband and a full-time job, my kids have never had a frozen meal. Ever. So, when I popped out these meatballs from the freezer they were totally confused! They kept asking who made them and why  wasn’t I making them. “They come all ready made?”, my son asked. It was totally foreign to them. LOL Truth is, I was so very sick over the holidays that a friend of mine brought me these sweet and sour meatballs for dinner one night. I had a severe sinus infection and could barely function or even eat due to the pain in my teeth. As congested as I was… I could taste this recipe! It was amazing! The meatballs were delicious and tender. No weird texture. I had no idea they were even turkey meatballs! I literally craved this recipe for weeks until I finally asked how to make it. I was incredibly surprised to find out that I had eaten frozen meatballs AND that they were made from turkey. I would have never guessed.

This recipe is so simple and delicious. Your whole family will enjoy this one! Spoon your meatballs on top of brown rice for dinner or serve them out of the crockpot as an appetizer.

This sauce sounds so simple and delicious to make! A very quick sub would make it gluten free, too 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing!
